4am high altitude lightning strikes, their subsequent rumbles, and the cold air rushing down just before the light rain make me happy.

Rain of any sort would make me happy.

I like the smell of grass just as it's starting to get wet.

When we lived in France, we had a house with a tile roof, and when it rained it sounded like a hundred wooden German glockenschpiels playing at once! It was pretty cool.

Hehe! I'm glad we're not the only ones who saw it. We were sleeping on the back porch and it was happening above us. The rain splatters were bog enough that we pulled it all inside, but if we'd somehow known that it wouldn't last we'd have stayed out in it. As it was we were out in it for 45 minutes or so. T'was fun!

I miss lightning shows like that sooo much.
Last place my parents owned in NY had a nice bajillion acres across from it that was just natural growth, so the sky went as forever as it can in the Catskills.
So much pretty in weather.

Ah, yeah. I was with my dad driving across the desert from Nevada to Arizona in the middle of the night once, and the lightning show was unlike anything I'd ever seen. Of course when you try to take pictures or video of these things, they hide until about .0008 seconds after you put the camera away.
